138 Trauma

Trauma, it’s a spectrum.

This episode covers some everyday anecdotes and practices we’ve found helpful.

And somehow, we talk about the topic…before we even really get into talking about it.

Stuff like this comes up:

  • Seeing a fish at the end of a line, flopping around with a hook in its mouth

  • Hearing a mouse squealing, the tail hanging down from the cat’s mouth

  • Your individual trauma

  • Generational trauma

  • Deeper ancestral trauma

Then Toast shares the story of a traumatic experience from her young adulthood.

It involved being raised evangelical Christian (when you’re gay) and being outed by a really good friend.

Some things that we’ve tried and found helpful to process trauma are:

  • mindful exercise

  • just simple shaking, wiggling

  • crafting

  • coloring books

  • flower essences – Siena formulates flower essence blends, a type of holistic energy medicine, available here. The specific blend to help heal trauma is here.

  • Sensory Amulets, which are sorta like fidget toys – Siena designed the Lavender Comfort Heart which is stuffed with organic flax seeds and organic lavender
